Gruber Terms of Service

Last updated 26 July 2026

These terms govern your use of the Gruber and Gruber Driver apps. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Gruber.

1. What Gruber is — and is not

Gruber is a coordination tool. It lets Grambling State University community members post ride requests and lets approved community drivers offer to fulfil them.

Gruber is not a transportation carrier. We do not employ drivers, own vehicles, or provide transportation. Drivers are independent individuals. Gruber is not a taxi, limousine, or common-carrier service, and does not process payments.

2. Eligibility

You must hold a valid Grambling State University student email address (@gsumail.gram.edu), be at least 18 years old, and provide accurate profile information including a working phone number and an emergency contact.

Accounts are personal. Do not share your account or let anyone else use it.

3. Payment is direct and between you

Gruber does not collect, hold, process, or refund money. The fare shown in the app is what the rider offered and the driver accepted. The rider pays the driver directly after the trip, by whatever means the two of you agree.

Fare figures the app suggests are non-binding guidance calculated from distance. Gruber takes no commission and is not a party to your payment. We cannot resolve payment disputes, though you may report a dispute through the Safety Center and an administrator may act on the account.

4. Rider responsibilities

5. Driver responsibilities

By applying to drive you represent, and must maintain, all of the following:

You are responsible for understanding whether carrying passengers for a fare affects your personal insurance policy or requires additional coverage, and for any tax obligations arising from money you receive. Gruber does not provide insurance of any kind.

Driver applications are reviewed by Gruber administrators. Approval is discretionary and can be withdrawn or suspended at any time.

6. Safety

The Safety Center in the app lets you share your trip details and report a concern to a Gruber administrator.

Gruber does not contact emergency services on your behalf and does not monitor trips in real time. If you are in danger, call 911 or GSU Public Safety directly. Reports submitted in the app are reviewed by a person, not instantly and not around the clock.

7. Conduct we will remove you for

We may suspend or terminate any account for these reasons, at our discretion, with or without notice.

8. Cancellations and no-shows

Either side may cancel before a trip begins; the app records who cancelled. Because no money passes through Gruber, there are no cancellation fees. Repeated cancellations or no-shows may lead to account suspension.

9. Availability

Gruber is provided “as is” and “as available”. Matching depends on whether any driver happens to be online and willing to accept your offer. We do not guarantee that you will be matched, that a driver will arrive, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gruber and its operator are not liable for any injury, death, property damage, loss, delay, or dispute arising out of a trip arranged through the app, out of the conduct of any rider or driver, or out of any payment between them. Your arrangement is with the other person, not with Gruber.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Your account and your data

You may delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account in either app. See the Privacy Policy for what we collect, who processes it, and what deletion removes.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be dated at the top and surfaced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Gruber after that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States.
