Gruber Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 October 2026

Gruber is a ride-coordination app for the Grambling State University community. It connects students who need a ride with approved student drivers. This policy explains exactly what the Gruber apps (Gruber and Gruber Driver) collect, why, and who else sees it.

Gruber does not process payments. Riders pay drivers directly, so we never collect or store card or bank details.

Who we are

Gruber is operated by Richmond Azadze. For any privacy question, or to request a copy or deletion of your data, contact razadze@gsumail.gram.edu.

What we collect

DataWhyWhen
Grambling email address (@gsumail.gram.edu) To create your account and verify you belong to the GSU community. Gruber is closed to the public. Sign-up
Full name, preferred name, phone number So your driver or rider can identify and contact you for a pickup. Profile setup
Emergency contact name and phone number Held so it is available if there is a safety incident during a trip. Profile setup
Precise location (GPS) To set an accurate pickup point, draw your route, and — during an active trip only — show your live position to the other person on that trip. When you request current location or share location during an assigned trip. See “Location” below.
Trip records: pickup and destination, coordinates, fare offered and agreed, passenger count, your note to the driver, timestamps, status To operate the matching service and give both people a trip history. Each ride request
Ratings and optional rating notes To keep the community accountable. After a completed trip
Drivers only: legal name, phone, vehicle make, model, year, colour, licence plate, seat count, availability notes To review your application and show riders which car is collecting them. Driver application
Drivers only: driver’s licence, insurance document, vehicle photo To verify you are legally allowed to drive. Stored in a private bucket readable only by you and Gruber administrators. Driver application
Support tickets and safety incident reports you submit To answer you and to investigate reported behaviour. When you submit one

We do not collect advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your data with data brokers or advertisers.

Location

Gruber asks for “While Using the App” location access. During an assigned trip, live sharing can continue when you minimize Gruber or open another navigation app. iOS displays its background-location indicator while this is active. Location permission and your device settings control access.

Who else processes your data

Gruber administrators (a small number of designated GSU community members) can see driver applications and their supporting documents, safety incident reports, and support tickets, in order to review them.

How long we keep it

Deleting your account

You can delete your Gruber account at any time from inside either app: Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, phone number, emergency contact, ride history, ratings, driver application, and any uploaded documents. It cannot be undone.

You will be asked to finish or cancel any ride that is currently in progress first, so nobody is stranded mid-trip. Trips you shared with another person remain in their history with your name removed, because that record is also theirs.

If you would rather we did it for you, email razadze@gsumail.gram.edu.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or erase it. Write to razadze@gsumail.gram.edu and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Children

Gruber is restricted to holders of a Grambling State University student email address and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Database access is governed by row-level security policies, so one account cannot read another account’s records. Driver documents sit in a private storage bucket. No system is perfectly secure, but we design on the principle that each person sees only what their role on a given trip requires.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app before it takes effect.
